Green light for NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) near Mons

B2Ai architects, working in collaboration with ANMA and VK architects+engineers, part of Sweco, have been selected by the Belgian Ministry of Defence to design the new NATO military headquarters in Casteau, near Mons.

The project, part of the broader redevelopment of the 150,000 m² military site, will comprise both the operational nerve centre for NATO’s military operations and the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA).

After more than ten years of reflection to define the requirements for all aspects of the project, from master plan, complex program requirements to security and safety considerations, the final green light has been given. Once completed, the existing SHAPE buildings will be demolished.
