Residential care centre Zilvervogel Lo-Reninge

Lo-Reninge

B2Ai architects was the laureate of the selection procedure for the designation of a designer for the revision and new building for the Zilvervogel residential care centre in Lo-Reninge.

The urban  concept for the site takes the current needs into account, but also offers opportunities for expansion in the future.

The site is located in the transition zone between town and vast polder landscape. There’s currently no link between the existing buildings and the town or the flood plain of the nearby Yser Valley. By allowing the site to function as a link between the town centre and the nature reserve, the renewed concept aims to meet this need.

In the area adjacent to the village, the new building is in line with the existing ribbon development.

The buildings in the heart of the site are intended for people who are less autonomous and therefore the buildings have a more closed of character, with high-quality enclosed gardens. The third zone focuses on the polder landscape. Among other things, a figure of finger-shaped buildings that penetrate the surrounding landscape interweaves buildings and landscape. The landscape design with footpaths, terraces, pétanque playing areas,… links the site into a whole.
