A new building with great added value for the whole environment
Ingelmunster Municipality demolished its old BLO building to make room for new BLO classes, a refectory, a pre-school and after-school care and the after-school care Villa Max.
The new building, like its predecessor, connects to the existing wing of the De Wingerd municipal school, but was turned 90° and placed along the boundary of the plot. The new location and the existing building together embrace the playground, which could also be extended with a playground accessible to all children.
“The changed implantation gives Villa Max its own face and access.
In front of the building there was a square where the meeting centre, the sports and youth service, the monastery and the free primary school also enjoy. This open space will later be linked to the sports and youth facilities in Ingelmunster via a pedestrian and cyclist connection.
The wide outside staircase can also serve as a folding stand and provides a direct link between the playground and the BLO classes on the first floor. The external staircase protrudes above the square and creates a covered access to the reception area, where parents can meet each other.
