New educational campus on Pleinlaan in Ixelles

Through the repurposing of the former Beobank building on Pleinlaan in Ixelles, B2Ai is helping shape the future of education in Brussels. Strategically located between the VUB campus and Etterbeek station, the building is being transformed into a multifunctional educational campus spanning 11,400 m². With planning permission secured, the opening is scheduled for September 2026.

Commissioned by the Flemish Community Commission and in collaboration with Befimmo, the former Beobank building is being redeveloped through a public-private partnership into a flexible, future-ready learning environment. The existing H-shaped structure forms the basis for a new school campus that will accommodate 1,150 pupils. wo Dutch-speaking secondary schools will relocate here: GO! Atheneum Etterbeek (general secondary education, 700 pupils) and the Imelda Institute of the KatOBA School Group (technical and vocational secondary education, 450 pupils).

Alongside modern educational facilities, the design includes more than 2,000 m² of sports infrastructure. These facilities will be used by pupils from the campus and neighbouring schools during the day and will be made available to local sports clubs outside school hours – maximising shared use and social value.

A key element of the project is the integration of a new community centre with approximately 1,000 m² of multipurpose spaces and a theatre. This cultural component promotes interaction between education, the local community and the arts, and provides space for both school performances and external events.
