From bottling plant to socio-cultural melting pot

Great news! As part of the consortium Alheembouw – BAM PPP PGGM Infrastructure Coöperatie U.A. – in short “ABC 02” – we have been selected as “Preferred Bidder” for the development of the Egied van Broeckhoven School in Molenbeek for vzw Ignatius Scholen in Beweging. It is the first project with an actual face within a large-scale DBFM program of the Flemish Government, which will construct 40 school projects through public-private partnerships.

A healthy and sporty meeting place in the heart of Lokeren

B2Ai architects and VenhoevenCS won the competition for the design of the new municipal swimming pool in Lokeren. The design solves the puzzle of expansion and accessibility of the sports complex in Lokeren with one clear intervention. With the new swimming pool we accentuate the sports center in the Sportlaan. Sports become visible; anyone who sees sports, wants to do sports. The new swimming pool connects seamlessly with its environment and the existing context and provides barrier-free access for everyone. We plan to cleverly reconcile the swimming pool, the existing sports halls, the youth center, the sports services, outdoor sports and social support and create a thriving sports meeting cluster. The team, consisting of Pellikaan, B2Ai architects, VenhoevenCS, Boydens and Sweco, will ensure that the site becomes a healthy and sporty meeting place in the heart of Lokeren.

NEW SWIMMING POOL BLOCRY IN OTTIGNIES-LOUVAIN-LA-NEUVE
A healthy design for a healthy society

We are happy to announce that we designed the winning proposal for Piscine de Blocry in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve together with a great team: Artes, VenhoevenCS, Sweco and Setesco! The competition is part of the “Plan Piscines”: an initiative to improve all swimming facilities in Wallonia. The design of the Olympic swimming pool translates into a compact, light and modest concept. This results in an energy-efficient complex, in which the surrounding nature plays a leading role. The new aquatic center will strongly contribute to the social interaction of the city. This cohesive function of the pool is inviting to everyone.

THE SYMBOLIC GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR ROELEVARD HAS TAKEN PLACE

The construction of Roelevard, Roeselare’s most iconic building, has now really started. The mayor of Roeselare Kris Declercq and alderman for Urban Development Nathalie Muylle, together with B2Ai architects and project developers Steenoven and ION, gave the official start for construction with a symbolic first spade in the ground.

SWIMMING POOL BRIGITTE BECUE OOSTENDE
Attractive place to stay, play sports and live

The new urban swimming pool in Ostend opened at the beginning of May. Together with VenhoevenCS we designed an Olympic pool with a multifunctional instruction pool and a large recreational zone. On top of this swimming complex, we constructed 22 social apartments. The architecture seeks lightness and an open character, with tones that are attuned to the surrounding environment. 

LEOPOLDSKAZERNE NOMINATED FOR THE WAF AWARDS

Good news! The reconversion of the Leopoldskazerne has been nominated for the WAF Awards in the category 'Civic - Future Project'. This year's World Architecture Festival will be held in Lisbon from 1 to 3 December 2021. The WAF Awards take centre stage at the World Architecture Festival and celebrate global architectural excellence including completed buildings and future projects. The winners will be announced during the festival. In recent years, we have already won several WAF Awards. Fingers crossed!
