New swimming pool on the Neptunus site in Ghent

B2Ai, together with VenhoevenCS architects and Sweco, won the competition for the design and realisation of the new swimming pool on the Neptunus site in Ghent. The new pool focuses on learning to swim, swimming as a sport, and water polo.

To minimise the building’s footprint in the green area, the programs are stacked. This is atypical for a swimming pool, which usually requires a lot of space. By elevating the pool, you swim at the height of the tree canopy. Throughout the year, the colors and impressions vary, allowing you to swim in an open natural environment while still maintaining the necessary privacy.

The elevation ensures that an open and barrier-free reception can be facilitated on the ground floor. The reception and hospitality area flow seamlessly into the public park, anchoring the swimming pool in its surroundings.
